The lab was completed on time and within budget, with no claims or construction issues. It now serves as a critical healthcare resource, supporting faster testing and broader public health impact across the region
Budget
Originally budgeted at $5.7M, the cost increased to $5.9M due to owner-requested upgrades from BSL-2 to BSL-3 specifications. Brownstone managed change orders efficiently, maintaining transparency and fiscal accountability throughout construction.
Schedule
Despite scope changes mid-project, the lab was delivered with only a three-month schedule adjustment. Our team successfully coordinated redesigns, approvals, and system upgrades without disrupting the overall project flow.
Innovation
This was the only CDBG-CV-funded biosafety lab of its kind in the nation. Brownstone ensured full regulatory compliance, technical coordination, and stakeholder alignment, setting a precedent for pandemic-ready public health infrastructure.
